Question

My father was an auto mechanic for 40 years . he always told me that when he passed his tools would be mine but now my stepmom is avoiding me & don't want to give them to me what can I do ?

Answer

The best thing to do would be to talk to a wills & estates lawyer to get the process of Administration going for your father's estate. A inventory of assets is filed with the Surrogate's court, to be distributed according to the Intestate law. A lawyer's letter to her advising her not to sell or otherwise dispose of the tools pending the proceeding might be useful.
