If you are offered a settlement in a civil suit and you don't like the amount, can your lawyer force you to accept it?

June 9, 2014

Question

If you do t agree with the amount and your lawyer does, do you have to take the settlement? Can you still go to trial?

Answer

You don't have to take it, but if you trust and respect your lawyer, you should find out why this is the best they can do for you, and seriously consider it. If they don't think you'd win at trial, there's usually a good reason for that.
