Question

This occurred in September 2016. Could you please give me your thoughts regarding this situation.

Answer

If you had to have additional surgeries/organ removal, besides the appendix, it might be worth pursuing. If it was just "additional time in the hospital", it may not be worth the time and expense. A key question is when the appendix burst - before you arrived at the ER or after - whether a CT scan was timely done - what it showed - and whether you were delayed for surgery for any medical reason. Usually, there is an 'on call' surgeon for such cases. He/she may have had to work on other patients before you. You should bring your hospital record to a med mal attorney to see if they want to pursue it. Good luck.
