Do lawyers at the NYC Bar Association have a cheaper rate than law firms? Lawyer Rates?

January 27, 2016

Question

I been searching for lawyers and have seen some are $300-$450 an hour. I did some research that you can go to the NYC Bar Association and meet with an attorney. Are these attorneys students or charge much less than private lawyers? Any background information will help. Thank You

Answer

As a panel member myself, I can assure you the lawyers approved for referrals by the NYC Bar Association have been through a rigorous process to get approved, so members of the public can have confidence that the lawyer they refer to you has been thoroughly vetted and approved. The $35 charge for non-contingent matters is more of an introduction fee. Consultations on contingent matters are free of charge. You need to call (212) 626 7373 for more information.
