A bench trial has been bifurcated and the first segment was completed almost nine months ago. Is this reasonable time period?

Question

Simple- bench trial, bifurcated, first segment almost nine months ago. I think this is an unreasonable delay in a verdict on a single segment of the trial. In fairness, there are 69,000 pages of documents-only a few impacting the decision on this segment.

Answer

If the Liability part of the trial has been done already, and all you're waiting for is an inquest on damages, then 9 months would be a long time - talk to your lawyer - you don't say whether the case is a City case or not - the calendar in New York county is seriously backed up, and long delays are the norm, unfortunately.
